Active License Check
The Active Directory versions are licensed based on the number of non-disabled user objects in the domain. The software does a daily license check. If you are over your licensed quantity by up to 20% the software will continue to filter passwords and a warning will log to the event viewer. If you are over your licensed quantity by more than 20% password filtering will be disabled on all domain controllers and a stop error will log to the event viewer. If password changes happen while the software is incorrectly licensed a list of users who are skipped will be maintained. Once the license issue is resolved you can use the list to force password changes and ensure compliance. If you are in a high growth company or prefer we can offer a true-up license agreement.
The license you purchase is perpetual and includes the first year of support and upgrades. Any release you download within the first year of your purchase will run forever. At the end of the first year you may optionally renew the maintenance at a cost of 15% of the purchase price.
How does the maintenance work?
The annual maintenance contract is very affordable at only 15% of the product price. The annual maintenance contract gives you 2 benefits:
- Access to updated versions
- Access to phone and priority email support
We understand that your password policies may not change. However, server technologies often do. When x64 servers were released to market we were one of the first password filtering vendors to offer an x64 release. Customers with maintenance contracts were given immediate access to the upgrades.
