How is nFront Password Filter Licensed?
nFront Password Filter SPE and MPE can be used to filter passwords for the Windows Active Directory. nFront Password Filter SPE and MPE are licensed based on the number of Windows domains and the number of active user objects in each Windows domain. Disabled user objects are not counted towards licensing.
nFront Password Filter for Desktops and Member Servers filters passwords on local SAM accounts. These versions are licensed based on the number of machines to which they are deployed.

Active License Check
The Active Directory versions are licensed based on the number of non-disabled user objects in the domain. The software does a daily license check. If you are over your licensed quantity by up to 20% the software will continue to filter passwords and a warning will log to the event viewer. If you are over your licensed quantity by more than 20% password filtering will be disabled on all domain controllers and a stop error will log to the event viewer. This does not mean password changes are blocked. Password changes will continue, however, they will not be filtered. If password changes happen while the software is incorrectly licensed a list of users who are skipped will be maintained. Once the license issue is resolved you can use the list to force password changes and ensure compliance. If you are in a high growth company or prefer we can offer a true-up license agreement.
During the licensing term you are entitled to support and upgrades.
Support is available 24 x 7 x 365 via phone or email. Support is based in the United States and handled by direct employees (i.e. support is not outsourced). While some support personnel speak multiple languages, we can only gurantee support in English.
